The LNG supply system consists of a vacuum insulated storage tank, with auxiliary equipment including an LNG vaporizer, a pressure build up unit and a bunker station. The purpose of the system is to fill, store and vaporize LNG and to supply natural gas to engines on a ship.
LNG storage refers to the safe containment of natural gas in its liquefied form. Natural gas becomes a liquid when cooled to -162°C (-260°F), reducing its volume by about 600 times. This makes transportation and storage more economical. However, handling LNG requires specialized infrastructure to maintain extremely low temperatures.
The purpose of the system is to fill, store and vaporize LNG and to supply natural gas to engines on a ship. The system is designed for minimum heat in leakage to guarantee maximum holding time. The gas is fed to the engines using the tank pressure. Hence, no pumps are needed and the maintenance costs are low.
The Jiangsu LNG project consists of an artificial island, the receiving terminals, a dock and trestle, a submarine pipeline and a gas trunk line. It mainly receives, stores, re-gasifies, and transports LNG from abroad. The re-gasified gas is delivered to the West-East Gas Pipelines and the Ji-Ning branch through gas trunk lines.
